Crochet Heart Square

Recently I was asked for an advice how to crochet a square around a heart. I should admit that it was heavy but very challenging task... It took me some time to complete the crochet pattern but the time spent on it really wort it. Hope you will like it too :o)

Here is the pattern, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did :)

Abbreviations used:
Stitch/Stitches (st/sts)
Slip stitch (SlSt)
Chain stitch (CH)
Double crochet (DC)
Half double crochet (HDC)
Tripple crochet (TR)

I've used DK weight yarn in red colour for the heart (round 1), pink colour for rounds 2 & 3 and green colour for rounds 4 & 5.

Hook: 3.5mm
The size of the finished heart square is: 8.5cm

Instruction:
Round 1: Crochet all the sts into a magic ring: CH 3, 3 TR, 4 DC, CH 1, 1 TR, CH 1, 4 DC, 3 TR, CH 3, SlSt to the centre of the heart. Fasten off and secure the ends.

Round 2: Attach contrasting colour yarn to the bottom of the heart (as shown on the next picture):

Continue crocheting in the back loops ONLY as follows: CH 1, 1 SC into the same st, (1 SC, 1 HDC) - in the next st, (1 DC, CH 1, 1 TR) - in the next st, (1 DC, 1 HDC) - in the next st, 1 SC in each of the next 4 sts, (1 SC, CH 1, 1 SC) - in the next st, 1 SC in the next st, 1 HDC in the next st, 1 DC in the next st (make this DC into one loop from the right part of the heart and one loop from the left part), 1 HDC in the next st, 1 SC in the next st, (1 SC, CH 1, 1 SC) - in the next st, 1 SC in each of the next 4 sts, (1 HDC, 1 DC) - in the next st, (1 TR, 1 DC) - in the next st, 1 HDC in the next st, join with SlSt to the top of the first SC.

Round 3: CH 1, 1 SC in the same st and in each of the next 3 sts, 2 SC in the next st, *CH 1, 2 HDC in the next st, 1 HDC in each of the next 6 sts, 2 HDC in the next st* - repeat it 2 times, CH 1, 2 HDC in the next st, 1 HDC in each of the next 6 sts, (1 HDC, 1 SC) - in the next st, 1 SC in each of the next 2 sts, join with SlSt to the top of the first SC. Fasten off and secure the ends.

Round 4: Join contrasting colour yarn to the sixth st from the beginning of the round (should be one stitch on the left from the one that you finished round 3 with, the middle st for round 3).

CH 3, *skip 1 st, 1 HDC in the next st, CH 1* - repeat it 2 times, **1 HDC in the next chain loop from the previous round, CH 1, 1 HDC in the same chain loop, CH 1, (1 HDC in the next st, skip 1 st, CH 1) - repeat it 4 times, 1 HDC in the next st, CH 1** - repeat it 3 times, 1 HDC in the next chain loop from the previous round, CH 1, 1 HDC in the same chain loop, CH 1, (1 HDC in the next st, skip 1 st, CH 1) - repeat it 2 times, join with SlSt to the second CH from the CH 3.

Round 5: CH 1, *2 HDC in the next chain loop* - repeat it 3 times, **(2 HDC, CH 1, 2 HDC) - in the next chain loop, (2 HDC in next chain loop) - repeat it 6 times** - repeat it 3 times, (2 HDC, CH 1, 2 HDC) - in the next chain loop, *2 HDC in the next chain loop* - repeat it 3 times, join with SlSt to the top of the first HDC. Fasten off and secure the ends.

World Amigurumi Exhibition 2015

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to announce that Pingo will take part in the World Amigurumi Exhibition 2015 held in New York! This year there will be around 130 amigurumi artists from 45 different countries. In order to examine how the amigurumi culture is developing in each area of the world, each artist was required to show a characteristic or feature of their culture with their amigurumi pieces.

I am originally from Bulgaria and I thought it would be interesting to show how a traditional Bulgarian folklore dress will look like when worn by an amigurumi animal :o) The traditional dresses have fabulous features as they are elegantly woven, made in incredible colour combinations and embellished with coins, sequins, beads and silk luster. In the past these traditional costumes were entirely home-made but I should admit, it was quite a challenge for me to create even such a small traditional Bulgarian dress :o)

On the pictures below you can see a traditional Bulgarian folklore costume from Shopp region of Bulgaria, richly decorated with sequins. Emmy bunny is wearing my design for an amigurumi folklore costume :o)

Traditionally the women wear their hair on a single plait, two plaits or many small plaits. The plaits are decorated with hair ornaments made of multicoloured beads, coins, flowers or feathers. A headband is worn over the plaits which is decorated with small gold coins, sequins, feathers...

The woman's belt has tassels. The married women wear the tassels on the right, the unmarried - on the left. If the flower is worn on the right side of the head, this means that the woman is not single, if the flower is on the left - the woman is single.

Isabella Street Hat

Hi there,

The autumn came to Vienna a few weeks ago and coloured the trees in so bright and wonderful colours... I had an amazing time enjoying the last sunny days but as it's being raining for a few days in a row, I had enough time to create for you the crochet pattern for the Isabella Street Hat :o)

You can make the hat in one or two colours, with or without pompon... Inspired and motivated by the colourful season, I've made it in white and pink. As I really love how buttons match with crochet items, the hat has three of them... I find the finished hat really gorgeous, hope you will love it to :o)

Mini Princess Slippers :o)

Good shoes can always make you look great!

These little ballerinas are easy and quick to make, they look very classy, the colour options are endless and they stay perfect on every little princess' feet :o)

The pattern includes three sizes: 0-3, 3-6 and 6-12 months. The ballerinas are made with DK weight yarn and they have double sole. They look just like real Princess Slippers!

Princess Slippers :o)

The slippers are very comfortable, they stay on perfectly and are very easy to make.

Please pay attention that those are intended to be an inside slippers and not for any sport activities. As the sole is crocheted, they may freely move on your feet.

Crochet Nautical Shirt – Popeye

Hi there,

I've come back from my vacation on the Bulgarian seaside two weeks ago, but since the summer here in Vienna is almost over my thoughts are still lying on the beach and enjoying the sunshine... So, having this amazing picture in my head, I've made for you the following gorgeous Crochet Nautical Shirt - Popeye :o)

The crochet pattern is available in 6 sizes - from newborn to 11 years old. As all of my patterns, it is easy to follow and includes step by step picture tutorial. The shirt looks equally cute made in any color combination. I can see any little girl dressed with that shirt made in fuchsia-white color :o)

Colourful Summer

Hi there,

What is the summer without a colourful hat!? :o)

You remember my free pattern Crochet Hat Summer Breeze? I've added a string of a few mini crochet balls to it in different colours and the result turn out to be really stunning...

This is my first time crocheting mini balls, but I am really in love with them, they give endless opportunities - they can be great addition to your summer hat, threaded in a string, they make an adorable necklace and if you combine them with another wooden tiny ball, you will have the most wonderful summer earrings...

The pattern for those gorgeous Mini Crochet Balls is available at Pingo's shops: Ravelry and Craftsy for free download. The pattern is available in two sizes. For the earrings I've used small balls, but they will also look amazing and will not be very heavy if you use big balls or a combination of one small and one big crochet ball. The necklace is made of combination of small and big crochet balls (1 big crochet ball on each 5 small crochet balls).

As many of you asked and insisted on selling the items made from Pingo's patterns I had to reconsider my initial decision... From now on you are allowed to sell finished items (not the patterns or parts of them) made from Pingo - The Pink Penguin patterns, but in limited number (no commercial use). If you are going to sell the finished item on Internet, please give a credit to Pingo as an author of the design and a link to the Facebook page, the Blog or the shop from which you've downloaded the pattern.
This change affects the already sold patterns as well. As I already see the upcoming questions.... Yes, you are allowed to sell the gorgeous Crochet Summer Dress that you've made following the pattern :o)

Additionally to that I have an important note for our customers from the European Union. Since 2015 there is a new Regulation from the European Union, which says that VAT (Value Added Tax) should be added to the selling price of a digital item. Shortly said - the items will be increased with the VAT percentage of the state of your (consumers) residence. We will decrease our prices, so the gross price for the end-customer won't change. We can't do that however for the items sold in Etsy, as with the applying of this regulation, Etsy did not give any option to adapt the gross pricing accordingly. This is being a combined result of the Regulation and the way Etsy adapted their service towards end-consumers. This is the reason,  why I can only advise you to buy the patterns from the Ravelry shop. All other customers (outside the European Union) should not be affected by these changes.
